Cornflower hydrosol (Centaurea cyanus) is traditionally valued for soothing facial care, particularly for the delicate skin around the eyes. Obtained through distillation of the flowering aerial parts, it has a subtle hay-like aroma with a light lemony note.
Known in French herbal tradition as casse-lunettes, cornflower has a longstanding association with eye care. Its hydrosol makes a refreshing addition to routines for sensitive, dry or tired-looking skin, leaving the complexion feeling soft and comfortable.
Use it as a daily facial toner after cleansing, or enjoy a gentle compress over closed eyelids after a long day at a screen. Cornflower hydrosol can also be blended with rose for dry and mature skin, or Roman chamomile for a soothing facial ritual.
How to use: Mist onto the face with eyes closed, then apply your usual moisturiser. For an eye-contour compress, moisten clean cotton pads and rest them gently over closed eyelids for 5–10 minutes, without allowing liquid to enter the eyes.
Storage: Keep cool and away from sunlight. Refrigerate the remaining hydrosol if decanting a smaller amount for daily use.
